Dispotech was founded in 1994 in Gordona, in the province of Sondrio, building on an earlier idea: in 1986 founder Massimo Mortarotti patented instant ice, having noticed a genuine need for this in the dental sector. From there grew a family-run company that today designs, manufactures and globally distributes single-use and reusable medical devices for the medical, first aid, dental, sports, mass retail and elderly-care sectors.
An idea born from a real problem
Before it was a company, Dispotech was an idea. In the 1980s Massimo Mortarotti worked in dental supply distribution and noticed a recurring problem: after an extraction, the dentist had to send an assistant out to buy ice from the nearest bar. This observation led, in 1986, to the patent for instant ice – an endothermic reaction contained in a pouch, ready to use within seconds.
Dispotech as a structured company was founded in 1994, in Gordona, which is still home to production today. Since then the original patent has been renewed and updated – a two-component saline system developed to meet new European regulations – and the catalogue has expanded well beyond the product that gave rise to the company.

A family business, a structured industrial partner
Dispotech remains a family-run company. At the operational helm are Massimo Mortarotti’s children, Monica and Emanuele Mortarotti (Emanuele Mortarotti is today the company’s legal representative). A structure that combines continuity in the vision of a family business with the industrial solidity required by distributors, major retail chains and healthcare facilities in Italy and around the world.
We design and manufacture in-house in Italy, in Gordona, entrusting distribution exclusively to selected B2B partners. Our point of contact is the distributor we supply with product, technical documentation and, where required, a private-label service and co-marketing initiatives.

Research, quality and regulatory attention
The product that gave rise to Dispotech came from a patent; today research remains part of how we work, in line with a certified ISO 13485 quality management system. Some of our devices are classified as Class I or IIa depending on their intended use, and we update the technical documentation our distributors need to work with professional customers and healthcare facilities.
