The research that gave rise to Dispotech
Dispotech was born from a patent: in 1986 founder Massimo Mortarotti developed the instant ice formula. From that first idea, research into materials and solutions for cryotherapy and heat therapy has remained part of how we work.
From endothermic reaction to product
Dispotech’s instant ice is generated by an endothermic reaction contained in a two-component pouch: water and chemical salts selected to reproduce a fast cooling effect. Developed by hand and then industrialised, the original patent dates back to 1986 – even before the company itself was founded in 1994.
The patent was renewed in 2013: to meet new European regulations, the formula was updated to a two-component saline system that made it possible to extend patent protection for a further twenty years, while keeping cooling performance unchanged.
Materials and tailored solutions
Beyond the instant ice formula, materials research guides the development of our entire range: from the choice of non-woven fabrics for devices in contact with the skin, to the structure of Dispo Gel reusable gel packs, to customisable packaging solutions for private label. Every new product is developed through direct dialogue with the needs of distributors and professional facilities.
