Welcome back to a new appointment with the news from Dispotech, your disposable excellence.

Today we will be discussing a truly impressive medical device, which could become a real game changer, as the Americans say: a device that could be a breakthrough and make a difference, both for its genius as well as for the capacity to save lives. We are talking about a simple but effective United States patent, able to measure blood pressure in a few, extremely simple gestures.

As we all know, keeping high blood pressure under control and stemming it can significantly reduce cardiovascular problems.

The blood pressure gauges everyone knows use a cuff to measure pressure by placement on the brachial artery. The smartphone introduced by Chandrasekhar et al. works simply: the person using it exerts pressure on the device and, at the same time, the transducers of the device calculate the applied pressure, which results in fluctuations of the blood volume. At this point, an app installed on the smartphone displays the measured data, so the patient can monitor his or her health conditions data daily.

The manufacturer’s team showed how the blood pressure measurements conducted by this smartphone were absolutely similar and in keeping with those done with the traditional devices we all know.

This is a very interesting device, which could make do-it-yourself blood pressure measurement truly accessible to everyone
